Why timing matters

Four ideas behind every calendar.

Dormant season

Without leaves, structure is easy to see and pests are inactive.

Bloom time

Spring flowers form on last year's wood, so prune right after they fade.

Heat and drought

Heavy cuts in hot, dry weather stress a tree.

Always urgent

Dead and dangerous limbs come off whenever you spot them.

Good questions

Pruning Wheel questions

When is the best time to trim a tree?

Many shade trees do well with dormant-season pruning from late fall to late winter. Spring bloomers are pruned right after they flower, and dead or dangerous limbs can come off at any time. Our Pruning Wheel shows the timing by job.

Can you save a tree instead of removing it?

Often. Pruning, cabling, soil care and pest treatment can extend a tree's life. We will tell you honestly whether a tree is worth saving.

Where do you work?

We serve 28 Middle Tennessee cities, from Nashville, Franklin and Murfreesboro to Hendersonville, Gallatin, Lebanon and Columbia. If your town is not listed, call 615-431-3789 and we will tell you what is possible.
